Welcome to Environmental Resource Consultants . . .
We are a unique firm in environmental resource consulting.
Most environmental firms study environmental toxicology or environmental risk assessment. Or perhaps they work with specific habitat studies and survey endangered species. Some also work with built environments.
We approach our work with a more holistic viewpoint than most other environmental consulting firms.
It is our belief that the natural and built environments can no longer be considered separate from each other. For the most part what is considered natural is actually the management of man’s effect on a natural situation. There really are very few natural situations left.
In most environments you will see the control of inflow and outflow of water. The environment's borders will be adjacent to manmade facilities. And the actual management will be for some man made purpose such as, forestry, parks and recreation, or some other use.
Our vision is to approach our work holistically.
That is, to take into accounts all that is impacting the environmental resources we are looking at.
This would include questions like:
1. What the environment actually is?
2. What resources are actually there?
3. What were they historically?
4. What is the biology and wildlife of the area?
5. What is the built environment and how is it impacting the area?
6. Culturally, what is going on and impacting the area?
7. What are the historical and cultural aspects of the environment and its resources?
8. What will it take to determine sustainability within the environments and resources we are looking at?
The areas that we work in are:
- Ecotoxicology
- Environmental biological assessments
- Wildlife population assessments
- Ecosystem health and quality assessments
- Impact of man-made effects on ecosystem quality and health
- Experimental model development – both field and laboratory
- Habitat assessment
- Historic preservation
- We offer both field services and laboratory services.
It is also our belief that because the field of environmental science is constantly growing and changing that we should too. We stay current with the latest technology, practices, and concepts. Because of this we are in a continuous development phase and are always refining our expertise
